Vintage :
The exceptional heat and drought conditions that overwhelmed France during 2003 produced highly concentrated Chardonnays with intense fruit and an abundant richness. The grapes were harvested unusually early due to the extreme ripening conditions, but still maintain the classic Burgundian acidity and minerality.

Winemaking: :
This wine was whole cluster pressed and then settled prior to barreling. The wine was then fermented in stainless steel as well as 20% new French oak and age sur lies for six months. The malolactic fermentation occurred naturally in our cave, the 2003 wines were very fast in completing this secondary fermentation. The wines was fined and filtered prior to bottling.

Tasting notes:
As is the case with most 2003 wines this Chardonnay has the structure and style of a higher appellation. Fresh apple and pear notes are balanced by a rich minerality and enough acid to keep it balanced. The oak is gentle and well integrated allowing for the fruit to shine. Drinking now.
