Vintage :
After the unusually hot 2003 vintage, the 2004 vintage was a classic Burgundian vintage. The vines produced a low yielding crop with excellent balance and bright flavors. Because of the ideal weather conditions, this Chassagne-Montrachet was able to remain on the vine until the beginning of October when it achieved perfect ripeness.

Winemaking: :
This wine was whole cluster pressed and then settled prior to barreling. The wine was then barrel fermented in 20% new French oak and age sur lies for fifteen months. The malolactic fermentation occurred naturally in our cave, the 2004 wines were very slow in completing this secondary fermentation. The wines was fined and filtered prior to bottling.

Tasting notes:
This is a perfect example of the power and concentration of this 1er Cru location. Les Vergers is a site that produces big citrus aromas that are balanced by a minerality and a touch of oak. The structure on the palate is rich and deep, with a good dose of acid and earth. This wine will age beautifully for the next ten years.
