Vintage :
After the unusually hot 2003 vintage, the 2004 vintage was a classic Burgundian vintage. The vines produced a low yielding crop with excellent balance and bright flavors. Because of the ideal weather conditions, this Clos de Vougeot was able to remain on the vine until the beginning of October when it achieved perfect ripeness.

Winemaking: :
At harvest the grapes were sorted, destemmed and crushed. We added about 15% of whole clusters into the fermenter. This wine was cold soaked for five days and then fermented on the skins for fifteen days before pressing. The wine was then barrel aged for 17 months in 30% new French oak prior to a non filtered bottling.

Tasting notes:
This wine highlights the qualities of the 2004 vintage. A deep ruby color is supported by elegant aromas of violets and fresh red berries. The oak is fully integrated adding complexity to the bouquet and the palate. Rich mature tannins and fresh acidity are balanced by the depth of fruit. This is a classic Clos de Vougeot, that show age nicely for the next ten to fifteen years.
