Vintage :
The exceptional heat and drought conditions that overwhelmed France during 2003 produced highly concentrated Pinot Noirs with intense fruit and unusual richness. The grapes were harvested unusually early due to the extreme ripening conditions. The grapes for this wine are grown just outside of Vosne – Romanée. As is the case with many of the 2003 red Burgundies, this wine exhibits qualities normally found it more highly regarded appellations.

Winemaking: :
At harvest the grapes were sorted, destemmed and crushed. We added about 15% of whole clusters into the fermenter. This wine was cold soaked for five days and then fermented on the skins for fourteen days before pressing. The wine was then barrel aged for 16 months in 30% new French oak prior to a non filtered bottling.

Tasting notes:
The unusual vintage has produced a style that is rich and very concentrated. This Wine exhibits rich currant and black cherry aromas. The tannins are mature and very forward, but not too aggressive. There is enough acidity to balance the fruit and oak making this a complete Pinot Noir and an incredible value.
