Vineyard and Vintage Notes:
Les Charmes is one of the most recognized and most famous sites in Burgundy. The aromatic intensity and depth of flavors are directly related to its location and terroir. In 2005 an exceptional year, the late season heat intensified the richness of the fruit as well as its unique character, putting together a combination that shows the purity of the site.

Fermentation and Aging :
The grapes were hand picked and transported by refrigerated truck to the winery. There they were sorted prior to a whole cluster pressing. After settling, the juice was transferred by gravity into our barrels in the cellar for the fermentation. After fermentation, the wine was left sur lies for 11 months, with the malolactic fermentation passing naturally. We gently fined and filtered the wine prior to bottling.

Tasting notes:
This Meursault 1er Cru Les Charmes, is an absolute classic. The 2005 vintage will go down as one of Burgundy's best and this wine expresses the greatness of the vintage. The aromatic notes are full of apples, pears and cloves, but also show rich citrus and slight toast. On the palate the flavors are exceptional, with a balance of acidity and richness that overwhelm.
This wine will continue developing for many years to come. |
