Vineyard and Vintage Notes :
This Saint Aubin 1er Cru is located on a hillside at over 1000 feet with a steep incline. There is very little top soil, leaving only stones. With its southerly exposure, the vines receive an above average amount of daylight. The combinaison of all of these factors results in the quality of a premier cru and is evident in the wine. The 2005 vintage provided plenty of sunlight and heat, with very little moisture, which produced very ripe and expressive fruit.

Fermentation and Aging :
The grapes were hand picked and transferred in a refrigerated truck. At the winery they were sorted prior to a whole cluster pressing. After settling the juice was transferred by gravity into our barrels in the cellar for the fermentation. Post fermentation, the wine was left sur lies for 11 months, with the malolactic fermentation passing naturally. We gently fined and filtered the wine prior to bottling.

Tasting Notes:
This 1° Cru En Montceau defines how a wine represents a sense of place. Saint Aubin is an appellation known for it's elegance, minerality and bright citrus. This wine encompasses all of this. It has a great acidity to match it's terroir and fruit, but also has a lot of finesse on the palate. It is structured differently from the wines of the neighboring communes, and it has a class unto itself. This is wine that will age gracefully for the next seven to ten years.
